Scotland, the Brave

The chronicle of an unplanned trip

Stage 5: – Way to the Highlands – GlenCoe & Applecross

August, 5th

Still moving to the North, we crossed such beautifuls lands, such as the best known Glen in Scotland, the GlenCoe, famous for its spectacularity and for its bloody history.

In these fields, it took place the famous Massacre of GlenCoe, on February, the 13th, 1672.

Thirty-eight MacDonalds from the Clan MacDonald were killed after being deceived and betrayed. Another forty women and children died of exposure after their homes were burned.

In the northen part of Applecross, you can find Pockton, a very cute and photogenic town.

Unfortunatelly, we arrived at 7 in the evening, with everythig closed and in the middle of a heavy rain.

But, even with this conditions, I found this small coastal village very attractive.

By the way, this is one of the causes that made us arrive so late at Plockton. Full of them through all the way!!!
